The ‘Ajanta’ brocade sari in cream draws from architectural carvings on the upper level of the Kailasa Temple at the Ellora Caves in Maharashtra. The border features bharvahak, or load-bearer, figures depicted in a squatting position, inspired by their use in Indian temple architecture. The sari is finished with a mitti red fall.
This textile may reflect natural variations within yarn, color, weave and/or embroidery.
