Originally a turban craft rooted in the celebration of monsoon, Laheriya is a tie-dye tradition from Rajasthan. The animation inherent in dyed stripes results in a sense of movement akin to rainfall.
‘Hathroi’ green kota silk sari features the 'Mothda' pattern (named after 'dal moth' or a grain of dal), which refers to small checks created by overlapping Laheriya stripes. Gulabi pink chevron stripes overlap the contrasting green stripes to form a checkered pattern in the body of the sari, with a green palla. The border is lined with pearls.
This handwoven textile reflects natural variations within yarn, color, weave and/or embroidery.
The sari is paired here with the 'Gulshan' blouse.
